| Option | Plan cost | Platform fee | Payment processor | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carrd Pro Plus payment form | $49/year | None stated on Carrd pages | Stripe (your own account, Stripe fees apply) | Stripe only for native forms; one-page style site |
| Carrd Pro Standard + widget | $19/year | None stated | Stripe, PayPal or Gumroad widget fees | Payment happens in the third-party widget |
| systeme.io Free | $0 | 0% transaction fees listed | Stripe or PayPal and others; their fees apply | $10,000 lifetime sales on free; 3 funnels |
| Shopify Basic | $29/mo yearly ($348/year) or $39 monthly | 2% only with third-party providers | Shopify card rates from 2.9% + 30¢ online | More store than one product needs |
Worked example: a $40 workshop, 25 sales a year
Hypothetical revenue: $1,000 a year. Processor fees are not included for Carrd or systeme.io because they depend on your Stripe or PayPal account and country.
Carrd Pro Plus: $49 a year plus Stripe fees. systeme.io Free: $0 platform cost plus processor fees, well under the $10,000 lifetime cap. Shopify Basic: $348 a year on yearly billing, plus 2.9% of $1,000 ($29) and 25 x $0.30 ($7.50) in standard online card fees, about $384.50. At this volume Shopify's plan is roughly a third of revenue.
Who should skip all three
If you already sell on a marketplace that handles payment, delivery and tax, linking to that listing from your page may be the lowest-effort option, even if the marketplace fee is higher than Stripe's. If you sell a service booked by appointment, a scheduling tool that takes a deposit may replace both the page form and the store. Pick the tool that completes the visitor's purchase with the fewest handoffs; the builder is only one part of that path.
When each one fits
- Carrd Pro Plus: you already have or want a one-page site, the product is a single digital item or booking, and Stripe is acceptable.
- Carrd Pro Standard with a widget: you are happy for checkout to happen in Gumroad, PayPal or a Stripe-hosted button.
- systeme.io: the product is a course or email-led offer and you want the list, the sales page and delivery in one place; plan the upgrade before nearing $10,000 lifetime sales.
- Shopify: physical goods with shipping, several products, inventory, or in-person sales.
What changes as sales grow
The cheapest row for 25 sales a year is rarely the cheapest for 2,500. On systeme.io, the free plan's lifetime cap of $10,000 in sales means a $40 product reaches it at 250 sales; the terms say payment pages stop taking new sales if you do not upgrade in time. Startup is listed at $17 per month. [3][4]
On Carrd, the plan cost stays at $49 a year regardless of sales, and Stripe's per-transaction fees become the main cost. On Shopify, the plan cost is fixed and card fees scale with sales; the plan becomes a smaller share of revenue as sales rise.

Checks before taking the first payment
We have not processed payments through these tools. Fees and limits are as listed by each vendor on 13 October 2026; processor fees vary by country and card type.
- Buy your own product once with a real card and refund yourself, so you see the receipt, delivery email and refund flow.
- Confirm where the customer's email address ends up, and that the delivery link or file works on a phone.
- Write a short refund policy and link it near the button.
- Record the processor's fee per sale from the test so your margin is real.
- Check whether you must collect sales tax or VAT for digital products where your buyers live.
Questions before you decide
Can Carrd take PayPal payments in a form?
Carrd's native payment-enabled forms use Stripe Checkout and require Pro Plus. PayPal is available as an embedded widget from Pro Standard.
Does systeme.io take a percentage of sales?
Its pricing page lists 0% transaction fees on all plans. Payment processors charge their own fees, and free accounts are capped at $10,000 in lifetime sales by the terms.
