What each add-on lists
Both companies price localization as an add-on to a site plan. These are listed prices before tax. [1][2]
| Option | Listed price | Listed scope | Try before paying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Framer translation locales | $20 per locale, up to 20, on Basic and Pro | Translate your site into multiple languages with AI | Free projects include one free locale to try |
| Webflow Localize Essential | From $9/mo, based on number of locales (1 to 3) | 10,000 AI-translated words per month; CMS, static page, SEO and style localization | Basic Localize can be previewed free on any plan; pay when publishing |
| Webflow Localize Advanced | From $29/mo, based on number of locales (up to 10) | 50,000 words per month; adds asset localization and localized URLs | Same preview rule |
| Separate page per language | No add-on; uses another page or site slot | You maintain each version by hand | Build it on the free plan first |
Yearly arithmetic for one extra language
Assuming the Framer locale price is monthly like other Framer add-ons (confirm at checkout): Framer Basic on yearly billing $120 plus one locale at $20 x 12 = $240, so about $360 a year. Webflow Basic billed yearly is $15 per month, $180 a year; Localize Essential from $9 x 12 = $108, so about $288 a year. Webflow Basic does not include CMS; a translated blog needs Premium at $25 per month billed yearly, $300 a year, before Localize.
These are rough totals from listed prices, not quotes. Taxes and the exact Localize tier for your locale count change the figure.
When a separate page is the better answer
A one-page offer for two audiences, such as a tutor serving English and Spanish speakers, can be two pages that link to each other. Carrd Pro Standard lists 10 sites for $19 a year, so a second language page uses a slot rather than an add-on. You give up automatic syncing: every price or date change must be edited twice. [3]
Use an add-on when the site has many pages or a CMS that changes weekly, because keeping two hand-made copies in step becomes the expensive part.
Ongoing costs nobody lists
The add-on price is the smallest recurring cost. Every new page, price change, form label or legal notice now has to exist in two languages. Budget an hour of review per significant change if you do not read the second language yourself.
Word allowances matter on Webflow: Essential lists 10,000 AI-translated words per month and Advanced 50,000. A site with a busy blog can use that quickly; decide whether posts need translating at all or only the core service pages. [2]
Worked example: a bilingual bakery site
Hypothetical: a bakery has a five-page site in English and wants Spanish. Menu prices change monthly. On Framer Basic, one locale is listed at $20, so if it is billed monthly the language costs more per year ($240) than the Basic plan itself ($120 on yearly billing). On Webflow Basic with Localize Essential from $9 a month, the add-on is about $108 a year. As two Carrd pages, there is no add-on, but every monthly menu change is edited twice.
With five pages and monthly changes, an add-on that keeps translations attached to the same pages is worth paying for. With one page that changes twice a year, two Carrd pages are simpler.
Checks before turning on a locale
We have not published a localized site on either platform. This guide compares listed prices and add-on descriptions.
- Have a fluent reader review machine translation before publishing; both add-ons advertise AI translation.
- Decide the URL pattern (for example /es/) before launch, because changing it later creates redirects.
- Translate the form labels, error messages and confirmation messages, not only body copy.
- Translate the page title, description and social preview text.
- Check that the language switcher works on mobile and with a keyboard.
