Terms side by side
Sources are the vendors' refund pages, help articles and terms accessed 13 October 2026. Webflow's terms page still described annual plans as non-refundable; its help-center refund policy, updated September 2026, is the more specific document. Framer's pricing FAQ mentions only the 14-day EU and Turkey window. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
| Vendor | Refund rule as written | Renewals | Downgrade or cancel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Webflow | New Site and Workspace plans fully refundable if cancelled and requested within 14 days of initial purchase, monthly or annual | Non-refundable; add-ons, seats and bandwidth auto-upgrades also non-refundable | Cancelling a Site plan removes custom domains and unpublishes the site |
| Framer | Help article: within 7 days of initial purchase worldwide; 14 days in the EU and Turkey | No refunds for unused time in an active term | Downgrade converts unused time to non-refundable account credit; cancel keeps benefits to period end |
| Carrd | Terms: purchases are final and non-refundable; not required to refund for any reason | Auto-renewal optional; pay as you go | Moving to a lower plan gives prorated credit; refund of credit at Carrd's discretion |
| Shopify | Terms: no refunds | Not applicable | Check terms before cancelling |
| systeme.io | Terms: subscription plans are not refundable | Not applicable | Cancel keeps plan to next billing date, then reverts to Free |
Test before you pay
Use these to build the real visitor journey: domain, form, payment or signup. If something fails, you find out before an invoice that may be final.
- Carrd: a 7-day Pro trial without a card, plus a free plan with 3 site slots.
- Framer: a Free plan for design and CMS structure; custom domain needs a paid plan.
- Webflow: a free Starter site, plus the 14-day refund window on new plans.
- Shopify: a 3-day free trial and a $1 per month offer for 3 months on most plans.
- systeme.io: a Free plan that never expires.
If you already paid
- Check the date: Webflow's 14 days and Framer's 7 or 14 days run from the initial purchase.
- Contact support in writing and keep the reply.
- If refunds are not available, ask about downgrade credit: Framer and Carrd both describe converting unused time to credit.
- Turn off auto-renew where the vendor allows it so the mistake does not repeat next year.
- Before downgrading, remove features the lower plan lacks; Carrd requires this before the change.
Worked example: the cost of a wrong annual plan
Hypothetical: someone buys Framer Pro on yearly billing ($360) and realises on day 10 that Basic ($120) was enough. Under Framer's help article, 10 days is outside the 7-day worldwide window but inside the 14-day EU and Turkey window. Outside the EU, the documented path is a downgrade, which converts unused time to non-refundable account credit against future invoices. [2][4]
The same mistake on Webflow within 14 days of a new plan purchase falls inside its refund policy. On Carrd, Pro Plus instead of Pro Standard is a $30 difference; moving down gives prorated credit, and a refund of that credit is at Carrd's discretion. [1][5]
The lesson is not that one vendor is better; it is that the size of a mistake depends on the plan price and the refund rule together. Check both before paying for a year.
Monthly vs annual with refund rules in mind
Where refunds are not offered, a monthly plan is the cheaper mistake: you lose one month, not twelve. Where a 14-day window exists, annual billing is lower risk if you test inside the window. Our default: pay monthly for the first one or two months when the vendor offers it, then switch to annual once the site is live and working.
This guide summarises published terms; it is not legal advice, and consumer law in your country may give you more rights than the terms state.
Questions before you decide
Can I get a refund on an annual Webflow plan?
Webflow's refund policy (help center, accessed 13 October 2026) says new Site and Workspace plan purchases, monthly or annual, are fully refundable if you cancel and request within 14 days. Renewals are not refundable.
Does Carrd refund Pro plans?
Carrd's terms say purchases are final and non-refundable. Moving to a lower plan creates prorated credit, which Carrd may refund at its discretion on request.
