A note on Framer's two articles

Framer's article on exporting to HTML says Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting and answers "No" to downloading HTML files. A separate Framer article on porting data says every Framer site is published as standard HTML, CSS, JavaScript and static assets that you can download and move. Both showed a September 2026 update date when we read them. Until Framer reconciles them, plan as if there is no supported export, and ask support before relying on one. [4][5]

Webflow: CSV for content, code for layout

Webflow's export article says code export is only available on Workspace plans, not on Site plans. CMS, ecommerce and user accounts can be exported as CSV. That means a blog leaving Webflow takes its layout as static code and its posts as CSV, then needs a new CMS to bring them together again. Budget that rebuild time. [2]

An exit plan you can write today

None of this needs a paid plan. The cost of leaving is mostly the cost of rebuilding the parts that only worked inside the builder.

  • Keep the domain at a registrar you control, not bundled where you cannot move it.
  • Keep original copy in a document and original images in a folder outside the builder.
  • Export form submissions and subscriber lists on a schedule; they live in providers, not pages.
  • List every URL and where it should go if you move; see the Framer redirect guide.
  • Note which features are platform-only (forms, CMS, password pages) and what would replace each.

Worked example: leaving a small Carrd site

Hypothetical: a photographer has a one-page Carrd site with a contact form, on a domain registered elsewhere. To move, they would export the page on Pro Plus, or rebuild it elsewhere from their saved copy and images. The contact form will not work in the download, so it needs a replacement form service or a mailto link on the new host.

The domain change is a DNS edit at the registrar, which our domain move guide covers, including how to keep email working. Total work is a rebuild of one page and one form. That is why exportability rarely decides a one-page builder choice.

The same exercise for a 300-post Webflow blog involves exporting posts as CSV, choosing a new CMS, rebuilding templates, and mapping 300 URLs. That can take days, so it deserves a line in the original decision.

Questions to ask support before you build

Webflow's refund policy, for example, says cancelling a Site plan removes custom domains and unpublishes the site from its custom domain and webflow.io subdomain. [6] Knowing that ahead of time tells you to move DNS before cancelling, not after.

  • Can I export my pages, and in what format?
  • Can I export CMS content, form submissions and subscriber lists, and is there a limit?
  • What happens to my site and custom domain if the plan lapses?
  • Will old URLs keep working if I move, or do I need redirects on the new host?

Does exportability change the pick?

For a one-page site, rarely: a rebuild elsewhere takes hours, not weeks. For a CMS site with hundreds of items, it should weigh on the choice, because content export and URL mapping are real work. Our recommendation stays the same as the rest of this site: pick the builder that fits the job, then keep your assets portable.

We have not exported a site from any of these builders for this guide.

Questions before you decide

Can I export my Carrd site?

With Pro Plus, Carrd documents downloading the unminified HTML, CSS and JS. Forms will not function in the download.

Can I export a Webflow site on a Site plan?

Webflow's help article says code export is only available on Workspace plans; Site plans do not include it.
