Entry plans side by side
Both pricing pages were read on 13 October 2026 in their yearly views. Webflow states its prices are in USD, per site, per month, plus applicable taxes. [1][2]
| Row | Webflow Ecommerce Standard | Shopify Basic |
|---|---|---|
| Listed price | $29/mo billed yearly ($348/year) | $29/mo on yearly billing ($348/year); $39 on monthly |
| Catalog limit | 500 ecommerce items (products, variants and categories) | No item cap shown in the plan table we read |
| Platform transaction fee | 2%, in addition to Stripe or PayPal processing fees | 2% only with a third-party payment provider |
| Card processing | Stripe or PayPal fees apply | Online 2.9% + 30¢ standard; in person 2.6% + 10¢ |
| Next plan up | Plus $74/mo billed yearly: 5,000 items, 0% transaction fee | Grow $79/mo yearly: lower card rates, 1% third-party fee |
What else differs
Webflow lists custom shopping cart and checkout design on every Ecommerce plan, and unbranded transaction emails from Plus upward. Shopify lists in-person card rates and, on Grow, 5 additional staff accounts. Both sell higher plans; check the next tier before committing so year two does not surprise you. [1][2]
The 500-item ceiling counts variants
Webflow's table describes ecommerce items as products, variants, and categories, counted independently of the CMS item limit. A shop with 40 products in 5 sizes and 3 colours can approach the ceiling much faster than the product count suggests. Count variants before assuming 500 is plenty. [1]
Worked example: where the 2% lands
Hypothetical: $2,000 a month in online sales, 60 orders.
Webflow Standard: 2% platform fee is $40 a month, before Stripe or PayPal charges. Webflow Plus removes that fee for $45 more per month on yearly billing, so at about $2,250 a month in sales the plan difference and the fee saving cross.
Shopify Basic using Shopify's processing: 2.9% of $2,000 is $58 plus 60 x $0.30 = $18, so $76 in card fees and no third-party fee. Card processing on the Webflow side also costs money; get Stripe or PayPal rates for your country before comparing totals. We have not processed orders on either platform.
Checks before you pick either
Webflow describes Ecommerce as a separate family of site plans with custom cart and checkout design. Shopify lists in-person card rates and staff accounts on higher plans. Those differences matter more than the identical $29 headline. [1][2]
- Count products, variants and categories, then compare with Webflow's 500-item Standard limit.
- Get your Stripe or PayPal processing rate for your country before modelling Webflow totals.
- Decide whether you will sell in person; Shopify lists in-person card rates, which matters for markets and pop-ups.
- List the pages that are not the store: about, blog, case studies. A content-heavy site may need Webflow CMS features as well.
- Price the next plan up on each side, since a growing catalog or sales volume decides the second year.
Who should skip both
If you sell one digital product or take bookings, a full ecommerce plan on either side may be more than you need; a payment form or a widget on a simple page can cost less. If you sell on a marketplace already and it works, building a second storefront splits your inventory and attention. Start with the smallest row that completes the purchase; both Webflow and Shopify will still be there when the catalog grows.
Our verdict by job
This is a documentation comparison. Both companies may change rates by country and payment method; confirm at checkout.
- Portfolio or brand site that sells a handful of products: Webflow Ecommerce Standard keeps the store inside the same design system. Check the item count including variants.
- Store first, content second: Shopify Basic. Its plan is built around selling, and it lists in-person card rates if you also sell at markets.
- Fewer than five products sold occasionally: neither may be needed; a payment link from a simple page can cost less.
- Existing store that works: do not migrate for an equal headline price.
