The Free plan as listed

The pricing page FAQ, accessed 13 October 2026, said the free plan supports up to 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 blog, 1 course, 1 affiliate program and 1 custom domain; emails sent are unlimited; it never expires and does not require a credit card. It also listed lower limits for some features: 1 automation rule, 1 email campaign and 500 students. [1]

PlanListed monthly priceContactsSales funnelsCourses

Unlimited$97UnlimitedUnlimitedUnlimited

Which limit you will hit first

For most first launches, contacts are not the first wall. One automation rule is. If you want a welcome email for new subscribers and a separate tag-based follow-up for course buyers, that is already two automations in many setups. Sketch your automations on paper before importing a list.

One email campaign is the second constraint. Before relying on Free, check in the live plan table how systeme.io counts the emails you intend to send, such as a welcome sequence versus a one-off newsletter; the page lists unlimited email sends alongside the one-campaign limit.

The page also says all plans include 0% transaction fees, with payments taken through Stripe or PayPal. Those payment providers still charge their own fees. [1]

A sensible upgrade trigger

systeme.io's own guidance on the page is: under 2,000 contacts use Free; 2,000 to 5,000 Startup; 5,000 to 10,000 Webinar; over 10,000 Unlimited. That is the vendor's framing. Our addition is to upgrade on a workflow limit, not on a feature you have not built yet.

  • You have more than 2,000 contacts, or will within the month.
  • A second automation rule would save you repeated manual work every week.
  • You need a second course or a fourth funnel for a real offer, not a draft.
  • Custom domain count: Free lists one; a second brand needs a plan that covers it.

The free plan sales cap

systeme.io's terms add a limit that the pricing summary does not headline: free accounts are limited to USD 10,000 in lifetime sales revenue, and payment pages stop accepting new sales if you do not upgrade within the stated period. The terms also describe a short period to reduce usage when you exceed a plan limit before an automatic upgrade. Read the terms before you launch a paid offer on Free, and set a reminder at around $8,000 in sales. [3]

Cancelling and downgrading

The FAQ says you can cancel at any time; you keep your current plan until the next billing date, then the account reverts to the Free plan. To downgrade, you can contact support to convert the remaining days into the lower plan, or cancel, wait for the revert, and then upgrade to the plan you want. The page mentions an annual option with "2 months free" but did not show annual amounts in the text we read; get the total at checkout. [1]

Before a downgrade, list what exceeds the Free limits: contacts, funnels, courses and automations. Export contact lists first. We have not tested what happens to content above the Free limits after a revert.

Rehearse before importing your list

Before moving a real audience, build one sample funnel, one email and one short lesson on the Free plan with test addresses you control. Check signup confirmation, unsubscribe, lesson access on a phone and the custom-domain setup. Only then import contacts.

Keep a copy of your contact export, course files and email copy outside the platform. If the Free plan later becomes too small, you will know which limit forced the change and can price Startup against the separate tools you would otherwise use.

Who should not start here

We have not run a course or measured email delivery on systeme.io. This guide reads the vendor pricing page only.

  • A portfolio with one contact form: a page builder such as Carrd Pro Standard ($19 a year on its plan page) is the smaller job. [2]
  • A physical-products store with inventory: compare a commerce plan.
  • An existing email list on another service that works: moving for a free tier still costs migration time.
