Start with the account you need to operate
A three-site business can need more than three slots. A live service page, a workshop page, and a portfolio might coexist with two redesign drafts and a reusable template. Before comparing prices, write down every site you intend to keep, including work that visitors cannot see.
This is documentation-based planning, not a report from a tested Carrd account. Prices and rules below were checked on September 13, 2026. Recheck the plan and checkout before paying, particularly if you need a larger site allowance.
The base plans answer different questions
These are the base allowances, not the complete menu of higher-capacity variants. A plan with more sites does not make each site more useful. If your next idea has no visitor, offer, or reason to exist, leaving a slot empty costs less time than maintaining another publication.

A six-slot example, with honest arithmetic
Suppose you keep three published sites, two unpublished redesigns, and one template. That inventory occupies six slots. Standard's ten-slot base allowance leaves four available. Its $19 annual subscription is still due as an annual bill; dividing it by the three live sites gives about $6.33 per live site per year for the builder subscription alone.
That average is a budgeting illustration, not a separate per-site price or a promise that each site will earn money. Add any domain renewals, paid email service, and external tools separately. If only one site needs a custom domain, do not assume the other nine slots require nine new domain purchases.
Drafts and archives are not free storage
Carrd counts published sites, drafts, templates, and archived sites toward the allowance. Reaching the limit also prevents actions such as cloning, accepting an incoming transfer, and restoring a deleted site. Keep room for the next operation you actually plan, not just today's published total.
Moving a site to Trash frees a slot, but takes the site offline and starts a deletion window. Carrd documents permanent deletion after three days on Basic or fourteen on Pro unless otherwise noted. Trash is therefore a poor long-term archive. Preserve material you need before deciding to remove a site; this guide is not an instruction to delete existing work.
Sharing access is different from transferring ownership
Carrd lets an owner share editing access with another account, including a free Basic account. The collaborator can work with the owner's plan features. Sharing therefore does not by itself require buying a second paid editor subscription.
The cited sharing documentation describes access, while the slot documentation describes an account's site allowance. It does not explicitly state a separate slot-accounting rule for a collaborator's Shared Sites tab. Do not promise a client that sharing creates extra ownership capacity. Record who owns the site, who merely edits it, and whether a later handoff will be an ownership transfer. An incoming transfer needs available slots in the receiving account.
Make the purchase decision from a small inventory
If three free sites cover the work, keep that setup. If six retained sites and a custom domain are the real requirement, Standard is a concrete plan to inspect. If a client will own the final site, agree on the receiving account and plan before promising a handoff date.
- List live sites, retained drafts, templates, and archives under the account that owns them.
- Write down the specific features required: custom domain, ordinary form, or advanced integration.
- Reserve a slot for a planned clone or handoff instead of counting only finished pages.
- Separate the annual builder invoice from domain renewals and optional services.
- Check the current plan against that inventory. Upgrade for the missing requirement, then stop shopping.

Questions before you decide
Does each Carrd website need its own Pro subscription?
Carrd's subscription belongs to the account and provides a site allowance. Base Pro Standard lists ten slots for $19 per year. Separate ownership accounts and domain registration can create separate costs; do not multiply $19 by every site automatically.
Do unpublished Carrd drafts and archived sites count toward the limit?
Yes. Carrd explicitly counts drafts, templates, archived sites, and published sites. Trash does not consume a slot, but restoration requires room and Trash has a deletion deadline. Sharing editing access should not be treated as a documented way to expand owned-site capacity.
